Steve Shaw is the retired Director of Administrative Rules for the state of New Hampshire. He retired at fifty and has been writing and painting ever since. He lived abroad for four years, living two years in Prague in the Czech Republic and two in Cambridge, England. He has written several books of poetry based on his travel experiences, including"New Life in the Palm of My Hands".

Steve's artist statement: "Plastic has two meanings: (1) something fixed, like a counter top, and (2) something capable of taking any form, as in plastic surgert. In my painting, I try to move from the first to the second meaning. I often paint amoebas as a symbol shape-shifting reality. Art to me is the reverse of fixed conceptions."
